Kindergarten Fees
The Queensland Government offers funding to provide free kindergarten for families with children of eligible age (children who turn 4 years old by 30 June in the year they attend kindy). This funding is allocated directly to your centre, and if you qualify, there will be no daily fee.
However, free kindergarten is limited to one group per child, so fees may apply if your child is enrolled in more than one group. For instance:
– If your child attends two kindergarten groups at the same centre.
– If your child is attending two separate kindergartens. In this case, you must specify which kindergarten should receive the funding upon enrolment.
– If your child is enrolled in both a kindergarten and a childcare centre, the free kindergarten benefit applies only to the kindergarten, not the childcare centre.
Queensland Kindergarten Funding Program
Free Kindy is a Queensland Government initiative that enables families with eligible-age children access to 15 hours of free kindergarten per week, 40 weeks. Funding is available when a qualified early childhood teacher delivers the kindergarten program in a government-approved sessional kindergarten, childcare centre or Narnia extended hours kindergarten.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for free kindy, your enrolled child must be of eligible-age (turning 4 years old by 30 June, in the year they attend kindy). Please check the table below to see when your child is eligible to attend kindy.

How to claim free kindy?
If your child is enrolled at two sessional kindergartens, for the same enrolment period, you must choose which centre receives the funding when you complete your enrolment. If your child is enrolled at a sessional kindergarten and a kindy program at a childcare centre, you can only claim it at the kindergarten.
If you have already completed your enrolment and did not nominate a centre or would like to change your nominated centre, you will need to complete an Updated Details Form available from your C&K kindy.
You will also be required to provide evidence of your child’s date of birth (for example, a birth certificate, passport, statutory declaration or other government-issued document stating your child’s date of birth).
Other funding available
Narnia is a not-for-profit early childhood education and care provider, and we are committed to maximising family access to available funding. We encourage you to contact your Narnia kindy directly for more information to discuss your child and your family’s situation. Depending on your family circumstances, other funding may be available to you, and Narnia can support you in accessing these.
Other fees
A one-off, non-refundable enrolment fee of $100 is required when you complete your enrolment at a Narnia kindergarten, to confirm your place. This fee is not subsidised and is issued to cover the administrative costs of your child’s enrolment at a Narnia kindergarten. However, the enrolment fee can be waived if you are an eligible concession care holder. Please discuss this with your centre’s Director.

What if I want my 3 year old to go to kindergarten?*
Priority is given to eligible-age children but if there are places available, we are happy to have 3 year old children at kindy and attend for two years. The subsidies do not apply for 3 year old children, and the daily fee (non-eligible) will apply.
