About

Welcome to Narnia Community Kindergarten. A place where play takes centre stage in your child’s education and where children are given time to explore, discover and learn! We offer a Government Approved Kindergarten Funded Program in a variety of flexible enrolment options. Our passionate teachers and teaching assistants are highly qualified and experienced. They are experts in teaching children from three to five years and establish a love of life-long learning. Our purpose-built building and expansive outdoor play spaces are designed to nurture children’s development in a caring community environment. Children have the stability of the same teachers and the same children attending kindy every day of their attendance. This allows us to offer continuity and extension of learning for each child, from one day to the next. Our mission at Narnia Community Kindergarten is to provide children with a play enriched environment and build partnerships with families and the community. We strive for high quality early childhood education and care where we support children to become life-long learners.

Educational Goals of our Kindergarten

The long-term goals of Narnia’s planned and child-led curriculum are to:

– Foster a caring and encouraging environment that nurtures self-worth.
– Develop a supportive educational program where children are naturally motivated to learn through active exploration and play, as play is the optimal path for learning.
– Cultivate an environment where children adopt an inquiry-based approach to learning, encouraging them to problem-solve and seek answers.
– Maintain a physical environment that is safe, appealing, and conducive to learning.
– Enhance each child’s language and social skills, fostering empathy and respect for others.
– Lay the groundwork for lifelong learning.
– Offer a program tailored to each child’s interests, needs, and abilities.
– Assist parents in their dual roles as caregivers and educators.
– Instill an appreciation for the natural environment, helping children relax and feel comfortable.
– Regularly review children’s progress and reflect on the curriculum’s content and relevance.

Kindergarten program details

At Narnia Kindergarten and Preschool, we have two kindergarten groups to choose from. All groups ensure children receive the same number of hours of education across the year. The groups have a maximum of 22 children and are led by an experienced and qualified early childhood teacher. We operate during QLD school terms and are closed for school holidays, public holidays and some pupil free days.

  • Group 1: Monday and Tuesday, 8:30am to 4:00pm
  • Group 2: Thursday and Friday, 8:30am to 4:00pm

C&K Affiliated Centre

As an affiliated centre of C&K, Narnia Kindergarten receives support from C&K as the Central Governing Body but operates as an independent incorporated association, managed by a volunteer management committee. Centres affiliated with C&K receive comprehensive support in governance including managing kindergarten and inclusion funding, training for committees and educators, advice, and support regarding inclusion, use of the C&K brand, curriculum approach and resource materials.

Child-Led Learning

No two days are the same at Narnia. Our teaching team tailor each day’s learning taking into account the individual interests and needs of the children in the group. The spacious environment at our kindy is thoughtfully planned and well resourced. There is a focus on music, drama, visual arts, literacy, numeracy, gross and fine motor development and social/emotional skills and time spent discovering the natural environment outdoors.

Community Spirit

Community spirit is important to us at Narnia Kindergarten. We foster our strong ties to the local community by encouraging parent input and involvement in the daily operations of the kindergarten and programming decisions. We often hold and partake in community events and love connecting with local businesses and groups around us.
